Ever find yourself dreaming of living in a cozy cottage, surrounded by a garden bursting with veggies and herbs, all while whipping up a fresh meal made from your own produce? Oh, the charm of it all! That, my friends, is the heartwarming world of Cottage Core.

But here’s the golden nugget: You don’t need a sprawling garden or a countryside cottage to dive deep into this lifestyle. It’s all about embracing simplicity, celebrating nature, and, most of all, cherishing the food we eat. Let’s dig in!

Why Grow Your Own Food, You Ask?

First off, it’s kind on your wallet. Think about it: Seeds are affordable, and with some love and patience, they transform into hearty plants that keep giving. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Moreover, the nutrition punch! Foods you grow in your garden haven’t traveled miles and miles, being jostled in trucks and sitting on shelves. They go from your garden to your plate in a jiffy, holding onto all those juicy vitamins and minerals. Sometimes, even the best homegrown produce needs a little help. That’s where mineral boost heroes come in. These supplements can ensure you’re getting all the nutrients you need, especially when your diet needs that extra kick. Plus, there’s an undeniable magic in tasting a veggie you’ve nurtured from a tiny seed. It’s love at first bite!

The Microgreen Magic

Feeling a bit space-crunched or not ready for a full garden commitment? Enter microgreens! These little guys are nutrient powerhouses and are super easy to grow. All you need is a container, some soil, and seeds. In no time, you’ll have fresh sprouts ready to jazz up your sandwiches, salads, and soups. Talk about a sprinkle of green love on your plate!

Let’s Grow Together

I’m here not just to gush about the joys of fresh tomatoes or the magic of sprouting seeds. For those chilly evenings, consider making a cup of spiced cacao. This delightful drink not only warms you up but also offers numerous health benefits, making it a perfect companion to your homegrown meals. If you’re looking to diversify your garden, consider growing an herbal tea garden. Imagine sipping a warm cup of tea brewed from herbs you nurtured yourself. It’s a delightful way to connect with nature and enjoy the fruits of your labor. I’m here to inspire, teach, and walk alongside you on this journey of connecting deeper with nature and our food.  This lifestyle is for EVERYONE. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what your backyard looks like. It’s all about the spirit of simplicity and sustainability. Whether it’s tips on growing your first pot of basil or diving into the beautiful rituals that celebrate nature, I’ve got your back.

Where to Start

My home is the heart of the desert so I have had to dabble in sourcing my seeds online. Fear not, I have the perfect place.

True Leaf Market has high quality and affordable seeds.

Where to Grow

I started growing seeds in leftover sushi containers and a handful of potting mix. Letting it sit over my oven gave the perfect warm environment for these little seedlings to sprout.

Really any container will work. The important factor here is keeping the seeds moist but with the ability to drain out excess water. Mason jars with mesh lids are by far the most compact and convenient method.
